Huni Kuin Exhibition
Rita Huni Kuin is one of the most renowned female young Indigenous artists from the Brazilian Amazon. The autodidact interprets traditional myths, chants and stories from her people, the Huni Kuin, in her own style. Rita has been exhibiting at the Museum of Modern Art in São Paulo, at the Humboldt Forum in Berlin and at Berlin Art Week. Now she's back to Berlin with new works. The exhibition takes place in cooperation with the German photographer and photo artist Jakob Stolz, who visited the Huni Kuin in earlier this year. A video installation portraying the life in the villages of the Huni Kuin people by Brazilian filmmaker Flora Suzuki rounds off the exhibition.
All proceedings of the exhibition go to projects of the Huni Kuin people, supported by the German NGO Living Gaia e.V. It will be possible to acquire the works of Rita and Jakob. Rita will be present during all three days of the exhibition, also giving body painting workshops and explaining the ancient patterns of the Huni Kuin.
