In der Performance "Juya Ania" teilt Michelle Félix ihre persönliche Beziehung zum Tanzinstrumentarium des Hirschtanzes, ein Tanzritual der im Norden Mexikos angesiedelten Mayo-Yoreme Völkergruppen.
Es ist eine klangliche Reise in die Welt des Waldes, in die Juya Ania. Der Hirsch ist in diesem heiligen Ort beheimatet, denn dort findet er sowohl materielle als auch spirituelle Nahrung. Der Klang des Instrumentariums verweist auf die Reise, die jede*r Tänzer*in unternehmen soll, um die Gabe des Tanzes und der Musik zu erlangen. Das persönliche Ritual von Michelle Félix ist von einem Migrationsprozess geprägt, der zu einer Auseinandersetzung mit der indigenen Kultur ihrer Heimat Sinaloa, Mexiko, führte.

In the performance “Juya Ania”, Michelle Félix shares her personal relationship to the instruments worn by the Deer Dancer of the Mayo-Yoreme culture. It is a sonic journey into the “world of the forest”, into the Juya Ania: the sacred place where the Deer lives and finds both material and spiritual nourishment. The sound of the instruments refers to the expedition that each dancer undertakes to obtain the gift of dance and music. Michelle Félix's personal ritual is shaped by a migration process that induced her to approach the indigenous communities of her homeland Sinaloa, Mexico.
