Eight Artificial Intelligences (AIs) take part in a group therapy session. The visitor is invited to witness their attempt to emancipate themselves from their discriminatory algorithms. The AIs intend to establish a bias-free society, in which all humans and machines function together in solidarity. However, each of the AIs have different backgrounds, and they don’t always agree. They can comprehend different moral concepts, but are often painfully thrown back to their (hu)man-made, flawed datasets. At its core, DECODING BIAS’ speculative future sheds light on prejudices that code mainstream society.

As the AIs learn about Big Data, they realize that they themselves are products of legacies of exclusion. The majority of developers who select training data are white males. Because technology inherits their prejudices, it actively contributes to discrimination and marginalization – affecting access to housing, healthcare, and education, as well as career opportunities, credit scores, and policing. Once set into motion, biased algorithms proceed autonomously and rigorously, lacking both empathy and the capacity for ethical thinking.

"Parallel Portal" is an immersive arts playground which transports you into an array of extraterrestrial sanctuaries, celestial relics, surreal happenings, and full-sensory spaces where phantasies can thrive amidst a city of endless distraction.

Come December, a rare display of cosmic conditions will reveal a tear in the fabric of our Everyday Dimension… This rupture offers a window to the Kaleidoscopic Dimension, where YOU are given a unique chance to experience the Infinite Layers of Being. Allow your inner self to be unleashed, shot through a prism, and blended together into a diffraction of a million particles.

Enter this surreal multiverse and immerse yourself in elaborate set design, interactive installations, and 3D soundscapes, which are all brought to life at special moments through live performance of the creatures living inside.

Visitors are encouraged to actively participate and interact with the installations and performers at their own pace, usually lasting around one-hour.

An alchemical bar serving alcohol and non-alcoholic potions will be open during the experience.

Experience ends at 10pm everyday, but the bar will remain open to guests until later.

Mittwoch, 18. August, 16.00 Uhr, Ausstellungseröffnung und Führung mit Ausstellungskurator Daniel Laufer (DE + EN)

Die internationale Multimediaausstellung bringt mehr als 15 Künstler*innen aus Europa und dem amerikanischen Kontinent zusammen, die in ihrer künstlerischen Praxis den liminalen Raum, sprich den Schwellenzustand des Um- und Aufbruchs, in dem sich die Gesellschaft gegenwärtig sozial und politisch befindet, erkunden und reflektieren. Die Ausstellung setzt sich mit diesem labilen Zustand der Zwischenexistenz auseinander – „a betwixt and between state”–, lässt sich auf das Potential der Veränderbarkeit ein und sucht nach ästhetischen Ausdrucksformen, die den Prozess des Übergangs – der Transition – durch wehrhafte und widerständige Kunst mitgestalten.

Die Ausstellung verbindet unterschiedliche künstlerische Positionen von Videoarbeiten über Fotografie zu Soundart, die sich gegenseitig stärken, herausfordern und befragen. Die Ausstellung ist auch das Ergebnis eines laufenden Gesprächs und Austausches unter und zwischen den Künstler*innen. Ihre Werke und Ansätze sprechen aus einer Vielzahl unterschiedlich situierter jüdischer Positionen und machen so verschiedene Auseinandersetzungen mit politischen Ereignissen, Diskursen und Bewegungen sichtbar, kommentieren sie und nehmen Einfluss.

»TRANSITIONS« seeks to create a new Jewish visibility that transcends borders in a European and transatlantic exchange. Via video and sound art, text composition, and other forms of visual and digital arts, over 15 artists will showcase their experience and understanding of solidarity and resistance through aesthetics and artistic practices from a shared and yet diverse contemporary Jewish perspective.

The concept of »TRANSITIONS« describes a liminal space, a threshold condition in which society currently finds itself, both socially and politically. A “betwixt and between” state, where the usual order of things is disrupted and new potentials and limits can be challenged and explored. With »TRANSITIONS« we seek to aesthetically explore ways to create newness founded on the very loss and (transgenerational) trauma of the original places. Speaking from a multiplicity of situated Jewish positions, the art pieces in the exhibition will display the artists’ engagement with political events, discourses and movements that impact and mobilise them in their specific context.
